Indeed, don't believe everything you read on the Internet!! Some is seriously outdated. You can find soil classifications that have not been used for 40 years in a well-known on-line science dictionary (Harcourts).
Also, be aware that there are other systems of soil classification than Soil Taxonomy. For example, the World Reference Base has 30 Reference Groups instead of 12 Orders. Since soils are natural and classification systems are artificial, it's never correct to say ""there are 12 main kinds of soil in the world""; instead, you can say ""According to Soil Taxonomy, a widely-used soil classification system developed by the USDA, there are 12 Orders or highest-level classes of soils in the world""
