The classification of the Rumney series has recently been changed from coarse-loamy, mixed, nonacid, mesic Aeric Fluvaquents to Coarse-loamy, mixed, active, nonacid, frigid Fluvaquentic Endoaquepts. This revision conforms to the Keys to Soil Taxonomy, 8th edition, 1998. Some soils correlated as the Rumney series in MLRA 101 and 145 have a mesic soil temperature class and will be correlated as a different soil series when these areas are updated. The latest version of the official series descriptions are available under ""Standards for Soil Survey on this web site or at: http://www.statlab.iastate.edu/soils/osd/
The Rumney series is now part of the following classes.
Order: Inceptisols
Suborder: Aquepts
Great group: Endoaquepts
Subgroup: Fluvaquentic Endoaquepts
The family includes:
Particle-size class; coarse-loamy
Mineralogy class; mixed
Cation-Exchange Activity class; active
Reaction class; nonacid
Soil Temperature class; frigid
