Re: Florida taxonomic challenges Grossarenic Endoaquods

A review of the National Soil Survey laboratory data indicates very low iron in the Aquods from Florida
and other Southern States. These soils will key as Alaquods. Arenic and Grossarenic subgroups are
provided in Alaquods. If you have several soils that have enough iron to be Endoaquods, Arenic and
Grossarenic subgroups of Endoaquods can be proposed. The procedure for requesting changes to Soil
Taxonomy is described in the National Soil Survey Handbook. Essentially we ask that you provide a
complete revision and a list the soil series affected, the extent of affected soils and the significance of
the proposed change.
