Soil Taxonomy is a comprehensive system. It is intended to
include all the soils of the world. It is based on
diagnostic horizons that are definitive. Diagnostic
horizons bring together soils with similar genesis, but the
genesis is not part of the definition. The taxa are
arranged in sets of ""Keys"" so that everyone can classify a
soil the same. Soil Taxonomy uses soil climate parameters.
Soil moisture and temperature are very important properties
of the soil that dictate use and management.
There are other soil classifivation systems arounnd, but
none of them include all the attributes mentioned above,
except Soil Taxonomy.
