An article about the Carver Series can be found at the Plymouth County Soil Survey Homepage at: http://members.aol.com/plysoil (click on the Soil Series Descriptions and scroll to Carver, then click on the Carver soil profile for the soil information sheet). There is information about the formation of the Carver Series. In SE Mass. Carver soils typically have coarse sand to loamy coarse sand textures throughout the control section, a thin A-E-Bs horizon sequence (as seen on the profile) underlain by several Bw horizons differentiated primarily by color change. The Bw horizons are about 20 to 35 inches thick.
