Bob already mentioned my Compendium pages (thanks Bob!). There is no Mediterranean classification as such. In that region, most countries use a combination of WRB (or, previously FAO) for correlation, and a local system for detailed mapping. If you can read Italian, look at their current efforts to make a 1:250k national map; you will find the link at the URL below. The French, of course, follow their own ways; see the INRA site. The Croatians use the old Yugoslav system, which is based on genetic concepts mixed with Kubiena's classification in ""Soils of Europe"" 1953 which was highly influental for the German system as well; but of course there they have no Mediterranean soils.
