Paleustalfs Taxonomy Question

Question from David Jalali, GS9 Soil Scientist of the Marfa SSO staff

The criteria for Paleustalfs (page 67 Twelfth Edition of Keys to Soil Taxonomy) state

“2, “No densic, lithic, or paralithic contact within 150 cm of the mineral soil surface and an argillic horizon that has both,

a. Within 150 cm of the mineral soil surface, either”

Does this mean that the argillic horizon must extend to a depth of 150 cm?
